FIMS
Module Overview
FIMS
(Foundation Information Management System) is modular, but there
also is a high degree of interaction, so each added module tends
to amplify the usefulness of the others. Two modules are prerequisites
for virtually any configuration:
- Profiles
(Name and Address file, Communications, Ad Hoc inquiries relating
to people or organizations)
This module is necessary for maintaining Donor and/or Grantee
identification records.
- Funds
(Fund or Project identification, Ad Hoc inquiries relating to
funding source or project)
This module is required to identify the destination of donations
and origin of grants.
Beyond
these two core components, modules can be combined as desired. For
example, FACTS (Fund and Account Tracking System) can be used independently
to allocate returns from pooled investments, but its real power
is realized in synergy with General Ledger.
A
basic communications and fundraising system includes three modules:
Profile, Gift, and Fund modules. You could add one or more of the
financial management modules, such as Accounts Payable, General
Ledger, FACTS (pooled investment allocation), Pledge, and Donor
Relations Management. A basic grant management system includes the
Profile, Grant, and Fund modules, and can be augmented by Accounts
Payable (which doubles as Grants Payable), General Ledger, and Scholarships.
DonorCentral
and the Internet Grant Application Module (IGAM), part of NPO's
Internet solutions, provide an online component for the development
and grant management systems. Additional information about DonorCentral
and IGAM is available in our Internet
