System Requirements
Memory
The demands of today's multitasking graphical applications (i.e.
Windows programs), coupled with the need for rapid sorts of your
FoundationPower database, require a fast processor and adequate
system memory. A Pentium with 64 MB RAM is the minimum for Windows
95/98; 64 MB or more RAM produces much better performance. Also
try to purchase the fastest hard drive possible for your client
PCs.
Network
cabling
The network cabling should be carefully planned with a local professional
cable installer. Some important considerations: Number of devices
(PCs, printers, scanners, etc.) at each location; future expansion
considerations; total number of users expected in a five-year period;
need for a 100 MBs vs. a 10 MBs network. The current cabling standard
is Ethernet 10-BaseT Level 5 cabling. New PCs should be purchased
with 10/100 Ethernet cards to allow 100 MBs Ethernet.
Network
Software
To run FoundationPower in a multiuser environment (a LAN), we recommend
Windows NT or Windows 2000 operating systems to be run on the server,
and Windows 95/98 or Windows NT/2000 on the client PCs.
Office
Software
We recommend the Microsoft Office suite. MS Office frequently comes
bundled when you buy a computer from major retailers such as Dell.
We fully support export/merging to these program suites. The majority
of our customers use Microsoft Office.
Remote
Control Software
In combination with a high-speed Internet connection, remote control
software is the vital link that enables us to provide full support
for our customers. We use this software to trouble shoot, train,
and do periodic enhancements of the system. We have standardized
on PCAnyWhere32 for Windows 95/98/NT/2000.
