Host*Net
Features and Benefits
Mobility
Use your applications, such as FIMS or FoundationPower, Microsoft
Office 2000 Professional and Exchange, from any location that
provides Internet access. Simply open a Web browser and begin
to work. Get your e-mail. Use shared calendaring. Access all
of your documents, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
Easy to use
We minimize or eliminate the number of commands or keywords
end-users have to learn, buttons they need to select, decisions
they have to make, messages they have to understand and steps
they have to perform to get their work done.
Affordable
Host*Net clients enjoy the same functionality and flexibility
as larger organizations, but without the higher prices. Save
money by "renting" software and hardware. Enhance
your FIMS or FoundationPower applications with professional
office applications, Microsoft Office 2000 Professional and
Exchange.
Outsource system administration
Software and data are housed offsite, so you dont
have to worry about network administration, backups, purchasing
software upgrades or virus protection.
Reliability
NPOs Data Center offers a superior infrastructure
that provides extensive fail-safe and redundancy protection
in case of circuit outages, or network slowdown. Our data
center has two direct connections to the largest and fastest
Internet backbones. Connectivity is carefully managed and
ensures data travels the fastest, shortest possible path to
our customers. Your data and documents are backed up daily.
Count on around-the-clock access to your applications and
data.

Faster deployment
Delivery of your software, software upgrades and custom
software is more efficient and faster with Host*Net.
Faster software performance
Software runs using sophisticated technology so your local
hardware plays little role in overall performance. Experience
great performance using inexpensive hardware, as long as you
have a reliable Internet connection. Even with a 56k modem,
youll experience the speed of the Internet as only screen
updates and keystrokes pass through the Web, dramatically
reducing bandwidth use.
Reduce your hardware TCO
(Total Cost of Ownership)
Host*Net allows you to use thin client computing. A thin
client is a device, such as a PC or Windows-based terminal,
that employs a server to use software applications and data.
It performs little or no application processing, and requires
relatively small amounts of memory and local disk storage
capacity. Older-generation computers, notebooks and
Macintosh computers are not so quickly obsolete using Host*Net.
Host Page
Staff and constituents can log in to a customized Web
page where they will find data from your database in statistical
or graphical summary, or even in detail, depending on ID and
password. All
stakeholders at the foundation can have convenient Web access
to a preset panel of information. Formats can include charts
of contribution or grant activity and a menu of Crystal Reports
(i.e. applications slated for the upcoming board meeting),
run against your data. This information then could be output
on a home, or office printer.
